What truck drivers want?
What do truck drivers want.
That just depends on the individual. What I have learned the most is to get to know all of your truck drivers on a personal level. From there you will find out what they need and want. Here are some ways to get to know your drivers. First thing earn their trust and give them the respect that they deserve. They have a hard job out there on the road for anyone that did not know that. Let them know you are listening and are willing to help them to make things easier if you can. If you can not let them know why with a honest answer. If you give them a honest answer and don’t blow smoke up there butt’s 9 times out of 10 they will work with you.
Some of the things that truck drivers want!
Here are some of the things that I have learned over time that truck drivers want.
Home time is very important to truck drivers. Most truck drivers are lucky to get to spend a handful of nights at home a month if that. That means they are not getting to spend much time with their family’s, not sleeping in there own beds and not eating home cooked meals every night kicking back on the couch watching TV with a cold glass of ice tea. They are having to choke down truck stop food setting behind the wheel of a truck watching the painted stripes on the road fly by. Here at Double S our drivers are home weekly on most runs for 1 to 3 days a week. Not bad right.
Money truck drivers want money but, who can blame them? I want money to. This is the plus side to most truck driving jobs as long as you are careful picking the company that you go to work for. There are a lot of good company’s out there but there are a lot of them that will promise you the moon and do not deliver. Our drivers here at Double “S” Transport avg. normally $55 to $85 thousand a year.
Nice and reliable equipment
Lets face it if I am going to be living in a truck for days at a time I want stuff to work like it is supposed to. Wouldn’t you. Here at Double “S” Transport we pride our self’s on making sure that things get done. Every week when the trucks come to the yard each and every one of them go into our shop and spend a minimal time of 4 hours to pre tripping them. Looking over them to make sure there isn’t anything that needs to be done. We ask our drivers to right up anything that bothers them even if it is just something small. The owner of the company Leon Shaw has never told the shop not to fix something.
