Key To Retention
What is the key to retention? We take driver retention very seriously here at Double “S” Transport . I think one of the most important keys to retention is to listen to your drivers. When we hire a driver we want them to make it a home here with us. We listen to what kind of feedback we get from our drivers and do everything that we can to improve things and make it fit our drivers needs.
Key to retention listening is the first step
Listen to what your drivers are saying first and foremost. If you are not listening to what your drivers are telling you then you have already started to lose them. If you can not listen to their needs you are failing already. Once you start listening then we move on to step 2.
Communication is the second step
Make sure and communicate with the drivers. Let them know that you heard them and are working toward a plan. If your drivers think that their needs are not being listened to then it won’t be long before you have lost that driver.
Last but not least Action
After you know what the drivers needs are then you can start putting a plan into action. Once you have put that plan into action discuss the plan with the driver and let him or her know what you are trying to do. If it is something that just can not be done then let them know that you tried and this that or the other is stopping you from being able to get that done. They will understand as long as you have communicated with them and let them know that you done everything in your power to get it done and why that it didn’t work. If you are with a company right now that doesn’t listen to what you are needing and would like to get with a company that does keep reading.
